What is the difference between Volunteer Work and Paid Work?
Volunteer workers are required to work a total of 24 hours, in various shifts, during and/or immediately prior to, or after, the event. Volunteer shifts will be scheduled between 08:00 Friday to 18:00 Monday. All volunteer shifts will be allocated and confirmed prior to the start date.
Paid workers are required to work a minimum of 8 shifts. These shifts will be scheduled prior to, during and after the event. All paid worker shifts will be allocated, where possible, prior to the start date.
All volunteer and paid workers will receive a Staff Wrist Band as a functional tool to carry out duties. This Staff Wrist Band will allow access to the arena and staff camping during your spare time.
How can I pay my deposit?
Unfortunately your deposit cannot be paid in instalments. You can, however, get a friend or relative to pay it for you. Please note that all deposits will be refunded to the account that they originated from. You can pay your deposit by major debit or credit card, cheque, BACS payment or PayPal. You can find further details of payment with PAAM on application.
When will I get my deposit back?
Details of deposit refunds can be found in our Terms & Conditions.
What happens once I have filled in my details on the database?
Once you have gone through the application process, and have paid your deposit, NuKleen Services will assess your application and then contact you by email to confirm whether your application has been successful and which shifts you have been allocated to. NuKleen will keep you updated on where and when to meet, together with details on camping and welfare arrangements.
When and how do I get paid?
For Paid Workers, payday falls on the 28th of the month, if it falls on a weekend or bank holiday your payment will go into the bank the nearest working day to 28th.
Monthly Timesheets from 15th to 14th of each month must be handed in by 18th of each month to be processed in time for payment on 28th. For example; timesheets for July 15th to August 14th must be handed in by August 18th.
The payroll only happens ONCE a month. If paperwork is not submitted on time payment will be delayed until the following month’s payroll.
How much do I get paid?
For Paid Workers, pay rates depend on the event and your job role. The minimum pay rate for Litter Pickers at any event is £5.93 per hour.
What happens if my pay is not right?
Firstly check directly with the bank whether your account has been credited. ATM’s often do not show funds immediately.
If you have a building society account please allow at least two additional working days after the 15th for your payment to show. Building societies take longer than banks to clear payments.
If you still have received no pay
Phone our NuKleen Head Office and have your payslip to hand. Note your employee number which can be found at the top of the right hand corner of your pay slip. Be sure that you understand the problem and that you have done everything possible to find out what has happened-i.e. contacted bank etc. We will then take your details and investigate your query.
We aim to resolve your query as quickly as possible, however you need to allow at least 48 hours before expecting a return phone call.
All employee information is totally confidential, and we cannot accept queries or calls on behalf of an employee.
What about tax?
To ensure that you are on the correct tax code you must complete and return the relevant tax form to our offices before commencing work. If you have a P45 please send it to us. Otherwise you will need to complete a P46.
If you are a student and are working for NuKleen Services only during the holiday period you can complete a P38. Please only complete one form. You can complete the relevant form as part of the application process through PAAM.
I have been taxed too much?
If you have been taxed too much, please contact your tax office, we cannot do this for you.
How do I become a supervisor?
We choose our supervisors based on a number of factors including:
- Reliability, enthusiasm and work ethic
- The ability to deal fairly with other staff, the public and clients
- Effective organisation skills
- How long you are likely to work with us
- Experience
